New Forest fire engulfs barn and 350t of hay and straw

A New Forest farmer has been left out of pocket after a barn was destroyed and 350t of hay and straw went up in flames.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Hatchet Lane, Hampshire, at 9.17pm on Friday night (21 June).

Crews from Brockenhurst, Hythe, Lyndhurst, Eastleigh, Hardley and Southampton, brought the flames under control.

The blaze was well established and although firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings, they could not save the barn.
After spending the night damping down, crews left the scene at 7.15am on Saturday (22 June).
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was not yet known. It added that no one was hurt in the incident.
