No decision on tax

THE government has yet to take a decision on whether or not to introduce a pesticides tax.

In a parliamentary written answer, junior treasury minister Patricia Hewitt confirmed work was underway to determine if a tax or charge on pesticides would be an effective way to reduce pollution.

"The government will evaluate the findings of the research project. No decision has yet been taken on whether to proceed with a tax or charge on pesticides," she said &#42
