Not just sugar crisis
"EVERYTHING But Arms" proposals to allow developing countries free-access to EU sugar markets threaten to upset more than just sugar beet growers incomes, warns British Sugar.
If agreed, the 40% quota cut would see 70,000ha move into other crops, mostly cereals, says operations manager, Robin Limb.
That would hit non-beet growers incomes as the pot for arable area aid would be diluted. *
