Oral iron paste a boost for piglets
PIGLETS can be given an oral iron supplement in a small 2ml dose with a high iron concentration version of Neoglobin, says Nutec.
It claims its oral paste lifts liveweight gain by up to 10%, compared with conventional injectable iron – an improvement worth an extra 50p a piglet.
Nutec advises giving the 2ml dose within 24 hours of birth with a mini cartridge gun and suggests the chelated iron formulation in a palatable gel base makes Neoglobin even easier to dose.
A starter pack of four 40-dose Neoglobin cartridges and an applicator gun costs about £20 (01543-414456).
