Perth plans February bull sales

PLANS are under way to hold Perth bull sales next February, subject to the venue retaining its foot-and-mouth-free status.

Talks between United Auctions (UA) and the Scottish Office have been held in a “spirit of co-operation”, according to UAs senior auctioneer David Leggat.

“We are hoping to hold an event and will be writing to all our clients this week.

“We also intend to accept entries from outside Scotland, but on the understanding that they will be subject to disease-free status being maintained,” said Mr Leggat.

It is unlikely the sale will follow the usual format, he added, but would probably be spread over two or three weeks to reduce the concentration of livestock in the market at one time.
