Pig feed booster ups the margins

INCREASED liveweight gain and improved margins are the benefits of Albac growth promoter for pigs, says manufacturer Alpharma.

According to the company, trials confirm that Albac gives an additional £48 margin per 100 pigs more than the current market leader. Feed conversion ratio improved by 0.027, giving an increase of 58p/pig over the basic diet (no additive), and 48p/pig over the diet which incorporated the market leading growth promoter.

The active ingredient of Albac – bacitracin – is approved for use in pig feed at an inclusion level of 50g/t, and costs about £1/t of treated feed. (01737-773711)
