Pigfeed prices to stay down?

By Peter Crichton

WINTER wheat plantings this autumn are likely to be the highest for a decade and could lead to an estimated 5m tonne exportable surplus.

This could help to keep a lid on feed prices in 10 months time.

According to Signet, the cost of home-mixed sow rations is up by 21/2% over the past 12 months, whereas rearing herd feed has leapt by 8.1% and feeding herd costs by 3.7%.

Hi-pro soya has eased back by 11/t since June, to 163/t, whereas fishmeal has risen to 445/t compared with 430/t four months earlier.
