DEPUTY Prime Minister John Prescott will not face charges over his scuffle with an egg-throwing farm worker during the General Election campaign.

Craig Evans, 29, who prompted the attack, will also escape court action, report four of the national papers.

A police spokesman told The Independent:
“The conclusion in Mr Prescotts case is that, for reasons of self-defence, there is not a realistic prospect of conviction.”

The Crown Prosecution Service decided a court case would serve no useful purpose, taking into account the assaults nature, reports the Financial Times.

Mr Evans told the Times: “Im just glad this is all over and finished. I always believed it was going to turn out like this.”
