Redesign for block and head adds life

FIVE-HUNDRED-HOUR service intervals and a 12,000-hour service life before a big overhaul is needed, are characteristics of Varity-Perkins latest 1000 Series engine.

The naturally aspirated four-cylinder 1004-42 diesel engine offers 82hp at 2400rpm and a torque rise figure which maintains output; 75hp is available at 2200rpm.

Key to its performance is a new design of block and cylinder head, said to be stronger for increased engine longevity and provide low emission performance from a non-turbo engine.

VarityPerkins fast-ram combustion system and rotary fuel injection combine to make the 1004-42 up to 11% more fuel efficient than the 1000 Series engine it replaces. &#42
