REVERSIBLE PLOUGHS
AS tractors get bigger, more powerful and with heavier lifting hydraulics, so the implements they handle can be increased in scale. Hence the growing popularity of mounted ploughs of five and six-furrows or more.
This price guide, compiled by Peter Hill, focuses on the main makes and models available in Britain. It highlights the specialist machines available for on-land working with wheeled or tracklaying tractors, indicates power ratings and the choice of conventional or hydraulic working width adjustment, with shearbolt or auto-reset leg protection.
Several manufacturers have introduced new models in readiness for this autumns ploughing season, including Dowdeswell (with the 130 Series Delta Furra), Kverneland, Lemken (with an extended EuroPlough line-up) and WestMac (Rabe Raven ploughs to eplace several current models). The Pottinger line-up from Watveare is also relatively new.
These join existing offerings from Gregoire-Besson, Kuhn, AGCO (MF), Naud, Overum and Vogel & Noot to provide an exhaustive choice of sizes, trash clearances, mouldboards and accessory designs to suit every possible need.
The specification summary for each model shows number of furrow widths available where adjustments are made manually, the power rating, point-to-point clearances and whether the implement is designed for in-furrow or on-land working.
