Rural transport cash unspent
By FWi staff
LESS than a quarter of cash set aside to improve rural transport was spent last year, reports the Daily Mail.
Figures reveal that the Countryside Agency has managed to spend only 1.3m of 5.8m given for transport projects in isolated rural areas for 2000/01
The newspaper reports that the previous year the agency was left with 2.2m.
Liberal Democrat agriculture spokesman Colin Breed said the failure of the agency to spend the available funds was a wasted opportunity.
