Scots rural rebels in pro-hunt march

A WEEK of disruption by "rural rebels" in Scotland is set to culminate in a pro-hunting march through Edinburgh.

Unhappy about the governments handling of foot-and-mouth and moves to ban hunting, the Scottish Countryside Alliance, hopes hundreds of supporters will attend a "March on the Mound" around Edinburgh castle on Sunday (Dec 16).

Demonstrators drove tractors and lorries slowly through Edinburgh city centre, packed with Christmas shoppers, last Sunday (Dec 9). The following day, a convoy of about 75 tractors and lorries blocked the Forth Road Bridge, bringing rush-hour traffic to a standstill. &#42

As well as campaigning against a ban on hunting with dogs, the group wants a full public inquiry into the governments handling of the foot-and-mouth outbreak. It is also worried about the recently published Land Reform Bill, which will offer the public greater access to the countryside.
