Sexed semen dropped
TWO of the UKs most powerful breeding companies have been forced to abandon commercial sexed semen production.
Genus and Cotswold International have temporarily pulled out of the race to provide sexed semen commercially, following the collapse of Gensel, a Canadian biotechnology company, in which both were investors.
Genus had invested £1.8m in Gensel over the past two years, making it a major shareholder with 23% of the stock. Cotswolds investment was £0.5m. But both companies are seeking other avenues to pursue sexed semen research. *
