SOURCING lambs from live markets is not the preferred option for lamb production manager for Dawn Cardington, John Bailey.
He reckoned that from every pen purchased from live markets, there would be one animal that was too fat, too heavy, or light.
"In the latter part of year we will have to go to markets to source lambs, but they can only be from farm assured units.
"I would prefer to source all lambs direct off farm because of traceability and farm assurance requirements for our customers." *
