Striking NZ vets return to work
By FWi staff
STRIKING New Zealand vets, who have closed most of their countrys meat plants for eight days, have returned to work, reports the Financial Times.
The end of the strike on Thursday (22 February) brought relief to New Zealand meat companies, says the newspaper.
They feared they would have to break contracts to supply European butchers and supermarkets with lamb for traditional Easter trade.
Sheep prices in British have fallen by 25% following the introduction of the foot-and-mouth export ban on Wednesday.
