Entering farm details secures seed for 0.2ha (0.5 acres) of early variety Antonil, but growers are advised to try at least 4ha (10 acres) to give the crop a chance. "Small areas attract undue attention from birds," says the firms Andrew Stainthorpe. Commercial seed in 1.2ha (3 acre) packs costs about £100/ha (£40/acre). Yields are typically 2-2.5t/ha (0.8-1t/acre) worth £155-£165/t, with a pool-marketing scheme available through United Oilseeds. *
