Sunshine fails to draw Royal Highland crowds
VISITORS basked in sunshine on the first day of the Royal Highland Show yesterday – but attendance fell by 6000 compared with last year to around 31,000.
But The Scotsman reports that confidence is apparently returning to the beef sector with prices for finished cattle 10% higher than last year
In the sheep rings, spectators saw a re-run of last year when five flocks lifted championship tickets for the second year or more in succession.
Four of the five awards were lifted by the same animals which had won last year.
