Thames-side stock standstill ends

By FWi staff

A FURTHER 503 farms have been freed from foot-and-mouth restrictions in parts of North Kent and South Essex.

Restrictions have been lifted around the Isles of Grain and Sheppey so farmers can take animals directly to slaughter under licence.

Affected farmers can also apply for licences to move their livestock further under the livestock movement schemes.

This takes the total number of farms that have had movement restrictions lifted to over 16,300 farms.

Restrictions still remain in an area of North Essex around Colchester.
