Tractor rage farmer is sectioned

By FWi staff

A STRESSED beef farmer, who took out his anger on his local village when he went on the rampage in his tractor, has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Andrew Slack damaged a house, several cars and a fire engine before toppling overhead power lines and plunging the Derbyshire village of Dalbury into darkness.

His trail of destruction came to an end when police marksmen fired shots into the tractor tyres.

The Daily Telegraph says the rampage is believed to have been prompted by a dispute with Ian Brown, a businessman who has been carrying out alterations after buying the old rectory in the village.

The newspaper reports villagers as saying that Mr Brown “called in” land formerly rented to Mr Slack for grazing.
