Tractor spills 6t of grass on motorway

A tractor-trailer has overturned and shed 6t of grass on to a motorway in Scotland.

The trailer toppled during rush hour, spilling grass across two lanes of the M898 approach road to the Erskine Bridge in Renfrewshire on Friday morning (6 July).

Police Scotland said they were alerted to the incident at 8.20am.

Traffic Scotland said the northbound carriageway was temporarily closed and clearing the road took time “due to the amount shed”.

The spillage caused queuing traffic along several miles of the M8 motorway from Glasgow, back up to junction 30, to the bridge.

The road was reopened at 11.10am.
