Unigate will sell bags of milk

By FWi staff

BRITAINS biggest dairy company, Unigate Dairy Crest, plans to sell milk by the bag-full in the move which could mean the end of the traditional pinta.

The company is to deliver bags of milk in two-pint pouches to doorsteps and sell them in supermarkets in trials in the south-west of England.

The pouch is placed into a reusable plastic jug and a corner is snipped off.

Unigate Dairy Crest says the pouches are more hygienic than cardboard cartons and more versatile than glass bottles.
