Unions approve Hoechst merger
UNION members and independent industrialists who sit on Hoechsts supervisory board have approved the German groups plans to merge with Rhône-Poulenc.
The board agreed “in principle” to the merger of the remaining pharmaceutical and agrochemical activities with Rhône-Poulenc into a single company to be called Aventis.
The boards decision means Hoechst will seek final approval from shareholders at the groups annual meeting on 4 May.
