Weather halting progress

James Foskett, who farms at Bromswell near Woodbridge in Suffolk, has only just started combining wheat in the last couple of days. “Its been slow and the weather has not helped.”

Claire wheat is yielding slightly above average between 8.6-19t/ha (3.5-4t/acre).

Optic spring barley has been poor and yielded 3.7t/ha (1.5t/acre). “Its not very good. Last year it yielded 3t/acre (7.5t/ha).” It has made malting standard. Pearl winter barley yielded close to average between 5-7.5t/ha (2-3t/acre).
