The event – prompted by a change in policy by Gareth Davies – kicked off, as is traditional, with the offering of machinery and equipment. Bidding rose to £9200 for this digger.
A big crowd came to this Newtown farm, where auctioneer Keith Davies sold this F-reg Massey Ferguson 399 for £9500. It wasnt too far behind the top-price piece of kit, a J-reg Massey 390T, which went for £12,500.
Blue skies and clouds…what a strange summer its been. Before the stock went under the hammer, 110ha (273 acres) of 11-month grass-keep was auctioned, allowing successful bidders then to purchase animals. The grazing turned out to be worth about £250/ha (£100/acre).
Also on offer were 1200 sheep. Beulah yearling breeding ewes made to £68, while Welsh Mule ewe lambs went to £59 and stores to £50.
I know what I was going to tell you… Morris, Marshall and Pooles Jim Evans (left) catches up on local news and views.
