Whites on the rise

HOUSING cattle and bringing calving cows indoors has increased the incidence of whites infections, says independent vet consultant Tony Andrews, reporting for UK Vet.

"There is more chance of a build-up of bacteria in calving boxes that are often not cleaned out and disinfected properly between calvings," says Dr Andrews.

When a calving is assisted ensure equipment is clean and disinfected. Stockmans hands are also likely to have bugs ingrained and should be scrubbed before assisting calving, he advises. &#42
