Cambs yield up on last year
Peter Mead said yields were generally up on last year at Moors Farm, Cambridgeshire. He had finished 50ha (125acres) of winter wheat, with first wheat Robigus yielding 10t/ha (4t/acre), and second wheat Napier at 9t/ha (3.6t/acre). Quality was good and bushel weights were high at 82kg/hl.
“It was slightly above average which is good considering the drought situation.”
The crop had mostly been sold. He planned to continue growing Robigus and Napier next year, with possibly some Glasgow.
Carat winter barley yields were also up on last year for Mr Mead, with 32ha (80 acres) at 8.75t/ha (3.75t/acre).
