Damned delays, says Walston

“Haven‘t started yet, damn it,” he said.

“But we‘re not desperate as we have only two fields of winter rape.”

Half of his oilseed rape acreage was redrilled in spring with Mozart, leaving just 70ha (173 acres) of Winner.

“It‘s ready to go, but we just can‘t get started,” he said – poor weather has kept the combine in the shed.

The farm has not grown barley for three years, and there is 500ha (1235 acres) of winter wheat to cut.
