Erosion hot topic at Cereals 05

SOIL EROSION will be a key focus at the Cereals 2005 event to be held near Royston next June 15-16.

The Allerton Research Trust will be running plots showing the impact of different cultivation techniques and believes that cross-compliance protocols mean the topic will be top of mind.

“These plots will help farmers consider their options and achieve a better understanding of the benefits to them in terms of retaining productive topsoil,” said the Trust‘s Alastair Leake.

He also highlighted the benefits this understanding will give to the community from preventing soil erosion and significantly reducing the threat of flooding.
