Granular beet herbicide promises to cut waste packaging

A new granular version of the sugar beet herbicide metamitron has been launched by Makhteshim Agan and could help growers meet the forthcoming ban on burning packaging waste on farm.

The product is available in two formulations Goltix 70WDG and Goltix 90WDG and both are packaged in 10kg seamless MINrinse bags, which do not require triple rinsing or cardboard outers and are accepted by waste packaging contractors.

It provides an alternative to liquid formulations – including Makhteshim Agan’s Goltix 70SC – that could significantly cut waste disposal problems, said the firm’s Louise Dalgliesh.

“In addition, MINrinse packaging is fully recyclable, easier to store and easier to use, reducing the time it takes to fill the sprayer, with reduced risk of point source contamination.”
