Quality on the later wheats has been poor, but in the Cambridgeshire area they saved the quality from most of the group 1 milling wheats by harvesting in-between the showers.
He has a total of 50,000 tonnes of milling quality wheat, but said he burned half a million litres of gas oil to dry it all.
“It‘s been a lot wetter than average which has led to an expensive harvest.”
