Nick Pratt at Downham Market, Norfolk, was disappointed with 25ha of Winner oilseed rape.

It yielded around 3.25t/ha, but he said he was pleased to have cut what he had as the moisture was high at 11.5%. Rain had put him at a standstill, with 25ha of Winner left to cut, and a few days left before Cocktail spring barley would be ready.

Twenty five hectares of Pearl winter barley for a contract farm yielded 5.5t/ha, all with a high 1.9% nitrogen.

Despite the rain stopping play, he was not concerned for the quality of wheat as it was still a week away from being ready.
