Pellets & Pelleting puts focus on metaldehyde use

Cereals exhibitor 2009

Get pelletwise! logoCereals 2009 is featuring a major new demonstration area focusing on best practice slug control and is offering visitors the chance to gain two valuable NRoSO points.

The “Pellets & Pelleting” arena will mirror the popular Sprays & Sprayers section at the event, and include a 20-minute working demonstration every hour, on the hour.

With pressure on the industry to reduce the levels of metaldehyde being detected in river water, the demonstration’s aim is to provide some practical pointers for operators that can help retain the future for this important pesticide.

It is being organised as part of a nationwide Get Pelletwise! campaign co-ordinated by the Metaldehyde Stewardship Group (MSG).

The organisers – working with SCS Spreader and Sprayer Testing of Staffordshire and equipment manufacturer Stocks – will demonstrate best practice calibration and application using one of the most widely used quad-bike and spreader combinations.

Visitors will be handed a questionnaire for completion at the event which gives NRoSO members the chance to gain two CPD points, and to win one of 18 Stocks calibration chutes being given away hourly throughout the event.
