Ploughing marathon for Warks YFC
YOUNG FARMERS from one Warwickshire club are aiming to plough 65ha (160 acres) over 48 hours in a charity ploughing marathon, starting today (September 2).
It is hoped that the event, which is being organised by Meriden YFC, will raise £2000 for MacMillan Cancer Research and will see the club’s 25 members taking part, said chairman, Scott Ruck.
“Everybody knows somebody who’s been affected by cancer, so we feel it’s a very worthwhile cause.”
He also hopes the event will raise awareness of YFC and the Meriden club, which started up a year ago.
A 5+1-furrow Dowdeswell plough, Massey Ferguson tractor and diesel have been donated by local suppliers for the event, which runs from 5pm today to 5pm Sunday (Sept 4) at Corley, near Coventry.
