Quiet confidence for barley and wheat

Pearl winter barley yields looked better than last year for Graham Bunn in Norfolk.

At 8.2t/ha, the yield was probably 10% up on last year although he said it was still early days.

With nitrogen at 1.66% and 2.5% screenings, Mr Bunn was very pleased.

The wheats were also looking good and he was quietly confident.

He added: “The rain came at the right time and possibly saved the spring barley. This weather is exceptionally good for harvest.”
