Rain stops play in Lincs

Farmers Weekly Farmer Focus writer Mark Ireland on Grange Farm, Lincolnshire, has not cut anything since Thursday (August 11) after 40mm of rain in three hours.

Moisture is now at 22%, so he hopes to start again later today (16 August). Mr Ireland has finished 80ha of Hereward winter wheat at 8.75t/ha. He said quality is good with high protein and good Hagberg. Yields are slightly up on last year.

He added: “It’s imperative we get a good week to finish [the wheat] by the weekend.”
