Rapeseed slide continues
OILSEED RAPE markets have continued to fall this week, losing about £10/t as harvest pressure across Europe and continued good weather in the US weigh on prices.
Ex-farm rape is now worth just £120-£122/t for harvest movement in the middle of the country, according to Andrew Barnard, Grainfarmers‘ oilseeds director.
“There are reports of good yields in Europe, and of surplus seed being offered for export out of Poland.”
It is even rumoured that this seed has been sold into the UK at aggressively low prices.
On top of that the Chicago market has fallen by more than 40% over the past five months, to just $5.90/bu (£119/t) as ideal weather conditions point towards a record 81m tonne crop.
