SAC re-launches organic website

ORGANIC FARMERS or those looking to convert from conventional production now have access to more free information online.

This follows the Scottish Agricultural College’s re-launch of its organic website www.sac.ac.uk/organic-farming to provide information on organic crop and livestock production.

The revised site contains a checklist for farmers looking to convert to organic production, a ‘step by step guide to conversion’ and other information on the conversion process, said SAC’s David Younie.

Users can also access technical leaflets covering topics such as organic weed control, yields, potato haulm destruction and the financial implications of organic conversion.

Links to the SAC’s organic research and education programmes are also available, including its part-time distance learning course.

The SAC is running a series of free organic farming open days – the next one is on August 10 at East Mains of Auchterhouse, Dundee.
