Wheat harvest is looking good for Giles Porter in Farnham, Surrey, as the sun shines today (August 9).
He is happy with all second wheat cut so far and 120ha of Isengrain yielding a reasonable 8t/ha. Mr Porter was surprised by this, as he did not expect it to yield.
With moisture at 13% he said things were going reasonably well, and this sun is letting him and his neighbours catch up after the rainfall last week (w/e August 7).
But Malacca first wheat died off quite quickly in the drought so he said he would just have to wait and see how the crop turns out.
