Two weeks solid rain causing problems – harvest update

He was able to start combining again on Saturday night (Aug 21) and through to Sunday morning before the rain set in again.

“We had another shower on Sunday and its now very wet. There‘s no chance we‘ll be able to combine again for a couple of days.”

He was harvesting Einstein wheat at 22% moisture on Saturday night and is worried about hagberg levels slipping further than they already have done.

Before the rain, hagbergs were at 280 and after the rain this figure slipped to 180, he notes.

“Things were going really smoothly until the rain came in.”

Mr Coleman says if he gets 2-3 days dry weather then he‘ll be able to get the harvest “wrapped up”.
