Weed control
MAIZE GROWERS looking for an alternative to atrazine to control grass and broadleaved weeds have another option available following the launch of Syngenta”s new herbicide, Callisto.
The product can control emerged broad-leaved weeds, including fat hen, black nightshade, chickweed, charlock, redshank, groundsel and field pansy, reckons Syngenta”s Tony Smith.
“Callisto, which contains a new molecule modelled on a naturally occurring herbicide from the bottle brush plant, can be combined with Samson to target specific grassweeds,” he adds.
For a 0.75 litres/ha application to control mainly broadleaved weeds, Callisto will cost about 19/ha (01223 833621;fax 01223 493 700).
