Yield Watch survey puts yields over 8t/ha
Average UK wheat yields are running at around 8.2t/ha, according to the first 2,400ha of yields submitted to Farmers Weekly’s Yield Watch survey.
Yields in the South East appear most favourable from the early data, averaging 8.95t/ha from over 400ha of submitted data, while East Anglia (7.65t/ha) and East Midlands (7.64t/ha) are lower, with more variable yields being reported. The West Midlands region is reporting yields on average of 8.29t/ha.
Of the varieties with more than 300ha of data entered, Solstice is averaging 8.25t/ha, Gallant 7.98t/ha, and feed wheat Grafton 9.18t/ha.
