DAIRY UNIT A USEFUL ASSET

USING HIS dairy farm as an asset base to fund investments has reaped dividends for Michael Scully, Co Cork.

For Mr Scully”s first off-farm venture he built and sold 12 houses in 1998, then he bought commercial property near London which has shown substantial capital growth.

This allowed him to more than double the herd to 200 cows and buy more quota. But he has continued his off-farm investment and is now a director of a venture capital company with interests in North America and Poland.
