Dairy Crest formula contract signed by 175 farmers

Nearly 200 Dairy Crest Direct suppliers have placed all or part of their milk supply on Dairy Crest’s new formula-based contract for the coming year.

The contract, which was developed by independent consultant Stephen Bradley, tracks five key costs – bulk cream, retail liquid milk (four pints), concentrates, fertiliser and red diesel – before calculating a monthly milk price.

Following a first-come, first-served application process, 175 farmers signed up to the meet the company’s target volume of 100m litres, marking 30% of DCD members on liquid contracts.
