Moy Park grabs World Cup glory

It might have been a sad day for England, but Northern Irish poultry producer Moy Park has reason to celebrate after its name flashed up alongside international brands like Adidas and Coca-Cola during yesterday’s (27 June) match against Germany.

The appearance of Moy Park’s logo was part of a broader deal by its Brazilian parent company, Marfrig, to sponsor the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“We want more people to know about what we do, and the World Cup sponsorship will put Moy Park’s name in front of millions of people around the world,” chief executive officer Nigel Dunlop said earlier this year.

“We hope this will not just increase their awareness of us, but grow sales for our partners.”

Advertisements for the poultry company were negotiated for all English, French and Dutch games during the 2010 World Cup.

Out of the three teams, the Dutch are the only one still in contention and the advertisements will continue to be seen during their matches.
