Top farming talent goes head-to-head at Farmers Weekly bootcamp
Ten aspiring farmers are battling it out at Reaseheath College for the coveted title of Farmers Weekly Farmers Apprentice 2012.
The talented 10, picked from entrants across the country, are at the Cheshire venue, for the five-day farming bootcamp.
The 18- to 25-year-olds are facing a series of tasks before the judges decide who’ll take the sought-after top spot and the £10,000 prize which could help kickstart their farming career.
The challenges have been designed to test the would-be apprentices’ practical, business and communication skills and will be watched by judges Christine Tacon (former managing director of the Co-operative Farms), Matthew Bagley (agriculture programme leader at Reaseheath) and Charlie Russell (2011 Farmers Weekly Farmer of the Year).
The tasks – designed to find out who has what it takes to be a farmer of the future – will be filmed for a series of “webisodes” to be screened online on FWi in November.
