Two fatalities on farms in past week

TWO MEN have been killed in separate farm accidents during the past seven days, the Health and Safety Executive has confirmed.

The first accident occurred in Cleveland on Tues, Aug 2, where a 35-year old is understood to have been crushed when a grain silo collapsed.

The second accident, which involved a 22-year old, took place on Thurs, Aug 4 in Kent and is understood to have involved farm machinery.

An HSE spokeswoman said the organisation was investigating the circumstances of the two accidents.

The HSE has recently released figures which show that farming fatalities almost doubled in the 12 months to April.
