Sima 2013: Vaderstad shows its Spirit drill
Swedish firm Vaderstad has had a 4m Spirit 400CC drill for four years but says that farmer requests have prompted it to add a 6m version. Changes to the machine have been made in several areas, too.
For a start, the previous noisy fan has been replaced with one that is fitted into the front of the hopper. It also cuts the amount of dust sucked in, says the company, and improves airflow.
The hopper now holds more than 5,000 litres of seed and fertiliser. A dividing wall between the two compartments can be moved to give a 50:50 split, a 60:40 split or it can be removed altogether for grain-only use.
Load-sensing hydraulics make for easier turning on headlands, with the discs being lifted first, quickly followed by the coulters. It also gives quicker folding, says the company and there’s now a Trimble GPS system for allowing half-width shut-off.
On final testing, they will be available in the autumn. Power requirement is 200-300hp.
