Cultivations photo gallery open for business

With harvest drawing to a close across much of the country the pressure is on to get started with cultivations, and we want to see your pictures – the good, the bad and the ugly.

Much like harvest, cultivation is not proving a straightforward task this year. In many parts of the country the ground is simply too wet to travel while in other areas bone-dry, cloddy conditions are making it a nightmare to get a decent seed-bed.

And then there’s timing to think about. There’s plenty of debate about the “safe zone” for drilling rape. Some say it’s not worth risking past the middle of September, but it’s clearly going to drag on until the end of the month in many areas.

Add to that the monstrous mollusc population and eye-watering slug pellet requirement and it’s looking like a pretty tricky start to the 2012-2013 growing season.

So with the pressure on, it’s all hands on deck with ploughs being pulled out of the nettles and old faithfuls being put to work alongside the latest, greatest tillage tackle.

This week we’re opening the gates to our Cultivations on Camera picture gallery where you can upload your pictures.
