Quinces Baked in Honey
Serves 4
- 4 quinces
- 110g (4oz) butter
- 8 teaspoons of local honey
- Water
Preheat the oven to 150C (300F, Gas mark 2). Halve the unpeeled quinces, then remove the pips and core each half of quince. Arrange the halves in a roasting tray and place the butter and honey in each hollowed out quince. Pour three tablespoons of water into the tray, cover with foil and bake in the oven for at least two hours or until the quinces are soft. During the cooking spoon the dark buttery/honey sauce over the quinces. Delicious served with clotted cream.
