Video: June on a small farm – shearing, silaging, and flirty cows
June is a busy time and running a small farm on your own means hiring in help is needed with jobs such as silaging and shearing.
We catch up with Buckinghamshire farmer Sarah Denne as she continues to introduce her son Rufus to the business of running a livestock farm.
This month, contractors are brought in to help Sarah deal with some challenging tasks.

We see how her shearing professionals make the job look easy as they efficiently relieve sheep of their fleeces and deal with any fly-strike cases.
To help with silage making, her local contractor brings in the more sophisticated mowing and baling kit she needs to get the silage in to get her cattle through the winter months.
Sarah is her usual indomitable and charismatic self, as she introduces her “Brucey bonus” late lamb, puts in bull Jonathan with her flirty cows, and shows off her bale-collecting skills.
Rufus and video co-creator Josh Aarons are documenting a year in the life of a British farmer, creating one video each month.
